Concrete Mind Blooms

For the latest iteration of Mind Blooms, Emily Mullet created a body of work that resembles abandoned architecture to conceptually explore returning to your past self. To create this aesthetic, she poured cement on wood panels and built up layers of paper and paint. Emily reinterpreted the portraits from her original Mind Blooms series by drawing inspiration from street art and graffiti. The figures and flower hair became simplified stencils to use with aerosol paints. Emily masked and layered the stencils in various ways to create this new set of bold portraits.
